COVID-19 Coronavirus Information

Like so many sectors, the travel and tourism industry has faced so much uncertainty over the past few years.  We hope that by outlining to you the following measures we have in place you can make your own risk assessment based upon your own individual needs.

CLEANING AND PROPERTY PREPARATION

As resident owner-managers of the Signal Box we have always taken great pride in presenting the accommodation to the very highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance.  This will of course continue, with additional efforts on COVID-19 cleaning demands.  We undertake all aspects of changeovers personally.  To ensure that sufficient time is given to these thorough requirements the earliest arrival time will move to 4pm (from 3pm); check-out time will remain at the same time of 10am on your last day.

Standard cleaning:  All hard surfaces will be wiped with an anti-viral cleaner.  We also provide a range of cleaning products including unused cloths at the property for your convenience during your stay.

Frequent-contact items:  All such items (eg: light switches, door and cupboard handles, TV and remote controls, pans and utensils, etc) will be cleaned, disinfected and wiped down with anti-viral cleaner.

Crockery and Cutlery:  A full set of all these items will be placed on a hot wash and left inside the dishwasher for you to use, you will know that all of these items are completely untouched prior to your use.

Books, guides, games and DVDs:  Many of the extra items we provide could be described as a ‘nice-to-have’, but we feel that they add so much to our guests’ holiday experience.  We recognise that it will be impractical to clean every page of every book or every item of a game every week.  Rather than remove all of these items we’ve decided to leave them in their appropriate cupboards; you have the option to use them or not.

It is worth bearing in mind how long COVID-19 can survive on a range of surfaces.  At a maximum (on plastic) this is thought to be 72 hours.

Soft Furnishings:  All evidence thus far is that COVID-19 cannot live on fabric for more than a few hours.  Notwithstanding this, we have duplicate sets of loose cushions enabling us to alternate their use each week, quarantining them in between different guests’ stays.  If you’d like these items removed we can do so, but please let us know in advance so that we can arrange this.

Bedding:  Our duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases and pillow protectors, towels, bath mats and tea towels all are professionally cleaned each week and we have multiple sets of all items.  This means that the linen on your beds will have been laundered at least 2 weeks prior to your visit.  In addition, we have different sets of duvets and pillows allowing us to rotate their use in between different guests’ stays.  Routinely, we will make up all beds ready for use.  However, we recognise that bedding is a personal thing; if you wish to bring any of your own items please let us know in advance.

We will require our guests to strip off the beds and bag up all bedding prior to your departure, this is to help minimise any potential contact with the COVID-19 virus.  There will be fresh mattress protectors on all the beds and these must remain on the beds, regardless of any bedding you bring yourselves. You’re welcome to put your own protectors over the top of ours if you prefer.

ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS

We shall forward full instructions to guests on receipt of final payment, this will include directions to the property and arrangements for contactless entry if you prefer.

PAYMENT, CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS

Our payment and refund policy for all new bookings is as follows:

Deposit:  £150, payable upon booking to secure your reservation.

Balance payment:  Final balance will be due 8 weeks prior to your holiday date.

Security/damage deposit:  Payment of a security deposit of £150 is required in case of damage to the property and its contents.  This will be payable at the same time as the final balance.  This will be refunded to the guest normally within 48 hours of departure subject to the property and contents being left in good condition.

Future restrictions upon travel:  Should the Government or Local Authority impose any restrictions as a result of COVID-19 which results in us not being able to provide your booked accommodation, the booking will be regarded as cancelled and all monies already paid by you as deposit and any balance will be refunded to you in full.  You may also decide whether to defer your payment towards an alternative period of your choice (subject to availability).  This is the full extent of the Owners’ responsibilities for cancellation in these circumstances.

HEALTH AND WELL BEING

Above all, we wish you a safe and enjoyable stay at the Signal Box.  Whilst the COVID-19 Coronavirus epidemic remains in general circulation you should follow all appropriate Government advice.  In particular, you should not travel and must instead stay at home if you or someone you live with has symptoms of COVID-19.  If you develop symptoms during your stay, you should return home immediately.  If you develop symptoms shortly after your return home, you should advise us immediately so that we may take necessary quarantine precautions.

Please do contact us should you have any concerns or questions.
